The SwitchFish Story

Interestingly, the SwitchFish story starts in landlocked Hungary, (Europe) 5,305 miles away from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  Peter Szabo, an Industrial Engineer had one dream, escape Communist Hungary in the 1979, so he could one day become a proud American citizen, retire in the USA (South Florida) and fish wheneverhe wanted to.  It took 40 long years and several other countries to realize his dream, but in 2001 he finally made it to South Florida. 

Along the way Peter became a very accomplished fisherman, owning several different fishing boats and every type of fishing reel and rod on the market.  Peter became a “real student” of the art of fishing, reading anything he could get his hands on and trying every type of fishing method from all over the World. 

However, no matter what products tried, he was never satisfied with their performance for one reason or another.  The Industrial Engineer in Peter could not be suppressed and he constantly tinkered and modified off-the-shelf items to better accommodate his requirements.  Peter became obsessed with creating the perfect solution to meet his needs.

Many years later, Peter realized that a radical approach would need to be undertaken to satisfy all of the requirements he wanted to see in a single Fishing System.  Light, sleek, modular, adaptable, minimal friction with maximum leverage.  SwitchFish was born!!!
